We've been fairly quiet since our Spring Update, but that's not to say we haven't been toiling away to bring you – our lovely users – the latest upgrades and features for Control D.
We've introduced various improvements for Organizations, revamped our Analytics Dashboard, launched our trusty help bot Barry, and much more.
As always, some of these features have been requested by members of our active community, so thank you for that. Keep your suggestions coming; we welcome your input.
Without further ado, let's dive in.
1. Simplified Organization Billing
Based on your feedback, we've simplified billing. We removed the distinction between User and Router devices, and everything is now billed under a single price.
This means that when you create a device (now called an Endpoint), you will input the number of human users who will ultimately use this Endpoint, allowing you to mix and match Endpoints that serve networks of different sizes.
Other changes include:
- Removed the need to manually manage limits. Limits are increased and decreased automatically when you add or delete Endpoints.
- Added tutorial for setting up a Windows Server / AD Domain Controller.
- Added ability to export Sub-Organization summary as a .csv file.
- Added ability to override the Global Profile inside a Sub-Organization.
- Added ability to add a custom link URL to Branded Block Pages.

2. Email Reports
Leveraging data is essential to keeping your network safe and secure. It allows you to make more informed decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, and monitor your network health and security in a streamlined manner.
That's why our dev team has been working tirelessly on revamping and fine-tuning the Analytics Dashboard, providing additional metrics to ensure you have all the information you need to safeguard your network and devices.
For instance, you can now schedule email reports showcasing how Control D is protecting your organization. These reports can be set to daily, weekly, or monthly, and will summarize:
- Queries – Total queries served, blocked, and redirected.
- Top Blocked – Filters, Services, and domains.
- Top Resolved – Domains.
- Traffic Flow – Source countries, destination countries, and destination networks.
We'll be adding more to the Analytics Dashboard in the coming months, so keep an eye out for that.
3. Partnership with Pinnacle
In case you missed our announcement, we've partnered with Pinnacle, South Africa's leading ICT provider, to bring faster and more secure internet to the African continent.
Pinnacle is a powerhouse in the information and communication technology sector. They offer a vast array of hardware and software solutions to their expanding customer base, which includes large enterprises, individual homeowners, and everyone in between.
Through Pinnacle's extensive reach and Control D's innovative DNS solutions, this partnership will allow businesses and individual users in Africa to have unparalleled control over their online browsing experience.
4. Barry the Expert
After many months in the works, we're proud to present him to the world... meet Barry.
Barry is our trusted chatbot, powered by our collective knowledge here at Control D and machine-learning technology.
Whether you have a general question about Control D and our ethos or a complex, technical question regarding troubleshooting, ctrld usages, and API usage, he can answer all your queries within seconds – he can even throw in a few jokes if you ask him nicely!
We're incredibly proud of Barry, and we promise you won't be disappointed with his expertise. To start chatting, simply click on the small purple circle with eyes at the bottom of the homepage.
5. UI Overhaul (in progress)
Have you noticed something different about the Control D website or blog? That's right, they've undergone a major UI overhaul and have a new sleek, modern look.
This fresh design is not only pretty to look at but also features improved navigation and a fully responsive layout to enhance user experience.
We've also added:
- An 'Integrations' section on our homepage highlighting our partnerships.
- An 'Industries' section outlining which major sectors Control D can help serve.
- New 404 pages if you ever get lost.
That’s not all, though. A huge makeover of the Control D Dashboard is on its way soon – and yes, it will have light mode.
6. Other Features
Besides those features, we've also added:
- New PoPs in Turkey, North Carolina, and Sweden.
- Updates to the Control D panel and app.
- Additional minor UI & UX fixes.
- New Privacy page for Android users.
- Bug fixes related to 2FA, adding a payment method, Apple Pay, Custom Rules searching, and Activity Log.
- Minor adjustments to the website copy.
